Pretty busy week

Last week was just busy. Fun, and very rewarding, but busy. Here's a recap of the latest in the Young household.

I became a citizen of the United States of America. After almost three years of dealing with Immigrations, I was sworn in as a citizen last Wednesday. Hunter and I are very excited about thi, and now we are just waiting for my passport to arrive in the mail. Here's me and my naturalization certificate. The ceremony was very patriotic and touching at times. I'm glad Hunter and I were able to go together (thanks be to our good friends the Bradshaws for babysitting the little one).

We went down to Valencia to spend a few days with Hunter's parents ans brothers. It was a very fun trip. Here's some pictures of our trip:

Camilla and Grandma enjoying the merry-go-round at the mall. Camilla decided she did not want to ride the "horses" but just sit on a regular chair!

We went to the Los Angeles Temple. We hadn't been to that temple in the longest time. The L.A. Temple will always hold a special place in our hearts since that's where we were married for time and eternity. It was great to spend time in such a special place (thanks be to Miriam, my amazing sister in law, for babysitting!).

We went to Griffith Park, and enjoyed a nice little train ride! Camilla didn't know what to make of it. She still had a great time though.

Camilla had more soda than she's accostumed to. No complaints from her side though.

Finally, Camilla went on a pony ride. She loved this. I think it was becasue she just loves animals period. Hunter even got a video of her being a cowgirl!

Sunday was a nice, relaxing day. We went to church, and then had a nice family dinner. Then off to packing for the following day.

I have no pictures of this, but we also enjoyed a nice game of Dominoes! A staple to our visits to Valencia.. and we sure look forward to such family times!

And so, our busy week came to an end. We ha da great time with family, and we feel so blessed to have them so close to us. Thank you Grandma and Granpa Young for having us with you for a few days! We also feel very grateful for a portable dvd player in the car that will keep Camilla's spirits high!

That's all for now, and keep on blogging.

Ps Updates on our garden to come later... Hint.. think pumpkin... :)

Fruits of... Hunter's labors

This was our garden as of June 6.

This is our garden now.

And although I'd like to say I tendered and cared for it... I didn't, at least not as much as Hunter. He took care of those babies, watering them frequently, and now we have...

Yep, zucchini ready to be picked out.

And you know what zucchini makes?

Zucchini bread.. very delicious zucchini bread, I should add.

Besides the zucchini, we have pumpkin, corn, broccoli, and yellow squash growing... we'll see what's ready next!

Camilla

Yes, we go to the park quite often.. Here are some pictures I took of Camilla. I was trying to use some of the settings in our camera. Some of them turned out well actually. Camilla is now 21 months old, and, as of Friday, almost 29 lbs! She's a big kid. People always tell me she looks like a two year old, which is true. She acts the part as well.. at times. But most of the time she's the sweetest, happiest little girl, who will blow out kisses and give hugs upon demand! I love her to death!
Yes, those are tan lines on her feet due to the shoes.. we are working on flip flops now!

Old Borges Ranch

Today was a great day! We started off the day by going to a couple of garage sales. We then headed to a donut shop, where we had breakfast.. Yummy! We ended up our trip finding a garage sale two blocks away from our house. We got Camilla a small Oscar The Grouch seat, and a lantern for her room.. Very cute stuff!

After we got home, we didn't know what to do. I decided to look into the activities some of the moms in the ward had just done (April, you are a lifesaver with all those ideas!). Anyhow, we decided to visit Old Borges Ranch, in Walnut Creek. It took us about 20 minutes to get there, and as soon as we were there it felt like we were in the countryside! Old Borges Ranch is the home base for Walnut Creek's Shell Ridge Open Space activities. There were several buildings that displayed what life was like in the pioneers' days. Borges Ranch serves as the rangers' station and house. And.. to make things even better, it has some animals that you can pet! We saw chickens, roosters, sheep, goats, and bunnies! Camilla had a blast. I think her favorite animals were the chicken. She kept chasing them, and they kept running away from her.. Pretty funny view!

We then had a picnic (leftovers from last night Papa Murphy's.. the best picnic food for a kid who won't eat sandwiches!) and enjoyed the view. It was a great trip out to the ranch!

This one would just stare at us!

Chickens here I come!

Another precious chase... the chicken won!
