Toddler

Yes, I know what you are thinking. We've had a toddler for the last 2 months (Camilla is 14 month old now)... It just didn't feel that way until recently. Over the past week Camilla has discovered that tantrums and mood swings can be a part of her day too! She's still a joy to have around, but screaming and kicking while lying on the Library floor is NO fun. She's so darn cute though. She blows kisses, waves hi and bye to everyone, runs, and absolutely LOVES dogs.

She thinks our toothpaste is the greatest thing on earth.

We sure are lucky our printer is on the sturdy side.

December is here!

Yes, it is crazy! Christmas is around the corner, and we Youngs are really happy about it. Hunter and I put our Christmas tree up a week ago, and believe it or not, the tree is still standing. I figured Camilla would have done some permanent damage to it by now, but she loves to just look at it. Rather cute. So she's walking (and running sometimes) all over the place now. She's attached to some of her stuffed animals.. one day it's a bunny, and the next one a bear (See pics). I thought this video was funny. So I guess she likes to put her daddy's lunchbox on her head. Silly. Hope you are all doing well.

Walking gets easier for Camilla!

So, she started taking her first steps a week ago, and this morning she went from one side of the room to the other like doing anything else. Amazing! I look at how fast this baby girl is growing, and it's ... well... sad? It is! I bet every mom goes through this. It's just amazing how fast they grow. I love this stage, don't get me wrong. She's so much fun... she was fun before, but now it's different. She's not just a little baby who can't do much on her own. She's a little person! Anyways, here's our latest video (taken last Friday). Hope you are all doing well. Take care!

Ps Gotta love Barney!

Trick-or-Treating!

And Halloween came! We took Camilla out trick-or-treating tonight. We joined Hunter's sister Jen and her kids. It was great! Camilla was a cute little cow. She was a good sport and waved bye bye to all those that gave her (us) candy! Hope you like the pics!
Happy Halloween!
Enjoy your candy

Camilla turned one year old!

Yes, the day finally arrived and our baby turned into a little toddler. Sniff sniff. Let's start with our trip to Trujillo though. We had a WONDERFUL time. Abuelito and Abuelita Rojas provided the best accommodations to our very picky family (disconnecting phones, fan in Camilla's room, Camilla having her own room!, etc). It was worth the long trip (8.5 hours in a plane to Lima, then another hour from Lima to Trujillo, where my parents currently live). We had all sorts of food... We ate out and also had my mom's homemade food... delicious. Here are some pics.

Pizza Hut

Aunt Shoco cooked "Papita rellena" (individual mashed potato cake filled with meat and other tasty ingredients).

McDonald's... of course!
I wish I could say we did a lot of touristy things, like going from place to place and explore Trujillo more... but thst wasn't the case. We spent most of our time with my family, letting ita and ito (short for abuelita and abuelito Rojas) enjoy Camilla as much as they could. We did all the touristy stuff two years ago when we travelled to Peru... when we we were wild and childless.. LOL. I think we could have done more touristy stuff.. you know, plan ahead and time it with Camilla's schedule, but the truth is, Trujillo is not so big, so we hit most of the big tourist attractions on our last trip. Anyway, it was great to have fun with my brother and aunts and uncles. We went to an arcade and had a blast (that's the pic with the ride on the train); we went to church on Sunday (and ita made sure I enjoyed Relief Society since she took care of Camilla most of the time), and played Risk and monopoly several times (in the pic you can see us playing Risk). It was a blast!

And then, on Monday October 20, Camilla turned one year old. We had a nice family get-together. My two aunts (Shoco and Pera, my mom's sisters) cooked this amazing barbecued chicken... it was great. We had gifts, the birthday cake and everything. Camilla is wearing a beautiful red dress that my mom had bought for the ocassion. We had a lot ot fun.
This last picture was taken when we got together to say good-bye to my grandma Carlota. It was sad to say good bye. You can also see my grandpa Angel and my aunt Shoco. Like anything else in life, our trip was coming to an end..

After saying our good-byes, we returned to Los Angeles on Saturday October 25, spent the rest of the day with Terry and Jannele (Hunter's parents), and then drove to Pleasanton the following day. What a trip! Camilla was sooo good. She was so happy to be with everyone. Such a social butterfly. Hunter and I feel so blessed to have such a loving, supportive family. We hope we can travel to Peru and visit my side of the family always sooner rather than later. Well, that's the end of this post! Will post more pics as our life returns to normal (does one really get that much mail in two weeks??), with Halloween coming and all! Take care!

Fun time with Family

Hello everyone! It feels like it's been forever since the last time I posted anything here. Weve been busy! We've spent the last 12 days in Peru with my family, and it's been great! Camilla has warmed up rather quickly to abuelita and abuelito (grandma and grandpa Rojas), and she loves her uncle, and great aunt and great uncles. We are having a wonderful time. Sadly, our trip is coming to an end as we are leaving tomorrow night! I've taken over 200 pictures during our trip, so I'll have to post some once we get back to Pleasanton. For now I've added a nice picture of Grandma Rojas and Camilla... They are so cute together! I guess this whole trip has made me realize how lucky I am to have such wonderful parents and parents-in-law. We are very blessed!

7 Random Facts Tag

I've been tagged by Joanna
7 Random/Weird Facts:
1. I do not like spicy food. This is weird since I am from Peru, where spicy is a must. I can not even tolerate the MILD Fajitas seasoning mix from Lawry's!
2. I had the same pair of running shoes for 6 years... Yes, I am cheap. They finally died a few days ago :(
3. I am a couple of pounds lighter than before I had Camilla. Now, how weird is that? I wish I could say I have worked at it, but I haven't. Now, to all you moms out there, don't hate me! It's not my fault.. It'll catch up though. I know that for sure...
4. I read fast. I started reading Twilight yesterday morning. I finished today and have already started New Moon. I am just a fast reader, and I love those books.
5. I have read of all Nicholas Spark's books. Well, almost all of them... they just released a new one two days ago. Will have to wait to read that one.
6. Did I mention I am from Peru?? That's gotta count as weird or ramdon. I speak Spanish fluently, but to tell you the truth, I don't speak it that much at home. At leats not to anyone else but Camilla. And even then, I could do better.
7. I love garage sales. And I am good with hand-me downs for Camilla. She grows so quickly out of those colthes, that I don't see the point the point in buying "new" clothes every time. Maybe as we get older and have more money to spare I will stop buying "gently used" clothes, but for now, she does not care, and neither do I.

We went to a Pumpkin Patch

Last Saturday we took Camilla to a Pumpkin Patch in Livermore CA. The same patch we went to last year, about the same time, when I was still pregnant! It was crazy to think that a year ago we had been there, and that Camilla was not with us then! We had such a great time. Camilla enjoyed the animals and playing in the corn... they had corn instead of sand, and they kids could make "corn" castles... it was fun! This was our "big" activity for the weekend. By the end, Camilla was just tired! Her face on the last pic is very funny! Hope you like our pics!

Yes, it is true, and now I am to take pictures of the following ten items RIGHT NOW. No strightening up, no cleaning... Wow, can we do this? Here are the ten things:
1. Refrigerator
2. Closet
3. Pantry
4. Favorite Room
5. Laundry Room
6. Self Portrait
7. Bathroom
8. What are your kids doing right now?
9. Kitchen sink
10. Favorite pair of shoes

Here we go!

1. Refrigerator

Not to bad I must say
2. Closet

This is my side... I'll spare Hunter's :)

3. Pantry
We dont' have a pantry... It's a multiuse storage closet :)

4. Favorite room

The living room of course... Camilla and I spend a lot of time out there!

5. Laundry room

You mean, laundry closet right? Yep, we have a stackable washer and dryer

6. Self portrait

Now, you must know this was taken around 8.00 p.m.... And make up was put on at 8 a.m.... SO no big expectations here :)

7. Bathroom

Oh, our tiny master bathroom

9. Kitchen sink

So the baby spoon is dirty... biggie!

10. Favorite pair of shoes

My running shoes of course... I've had them for .. say 6 years now... They are old, and really need to be replaced, but those Nike are sooo comfy. Love them to death.

Ok, so that's it! Now you probably know too much about us! I had fun doing this though! To end on a good note, here's Camilla with a little pink tutu on. Take care!
