Camilla got her first real hair cut!

Yep, I've cut her bangs before a couple of time, but today was for real! We went to a hair salon that specializes in cutting children's hair. She got fussy at first, but everything went well after we gave her a lollipop... LOL... She looks like a little girl! So cute!

Oranges

First of all, I have created a Spanish version of our blog... As most of you know, my parents and brother are still back home, so this is a way to stay in even more touch with them. It's forcing me to blog a bit more often! Will I surpass my "once a week" blogging routine?? Maybe! Anyhow, Oranges! Camilla LOVES them. The girl will eat a WHOLE one and go, "more." Crazy stuff. She gets messy, and it's a "joy" to wash orange stains... but she's so happy! I didn't catch the "more" on the video, but she still looks cute!

Eating "al fresco"

Tonight we ate outside for the first time! Thank you Dad and Mom for our table and chairs! We look forward to using them quite often this summer! :)

Papa Murphy's for dinner.. Yum!
Camilla "showing us her muscles"... I love that face!

Memorial Day

Today we decided to take Camilla to an amusement park here in town. It's called Pixieland, and from the reviews I read, it's great for young children. So off we went. Camilla had the time of her life! She enjoyed the rides (she loved "driving" the cars) and even cried when the thing was over.

Hunter, Camilla and the tea cups!

To finish up, we went to a pond that is right next to the park, where we fed the ducks and geese. Some of those geese were huge!

Camilla was kind enough to share some of her goldfish with her friends...

We also went to our HOA community pool where they were having a free BBQ for the residents. We met up with another young couple in the ward (the Palmers) and it was fun to just talk while enjoying lunch. It's been a great day!

Family Get-Together

This past Saturday Hunter and I hosted a family get-together at our home. It was a lot of fun to be able to spend time with several of our family members. And, I must say, a bit different to play the role of hostess! Hunter's parents, Terry and Janelle, drove up from Valencia and stayed a couple of days with us. Hunter' two sisters, Crystal and Jennifer, and their families, came to join the party, as well as Hunter's aunt Leanne and a good family friend, Marne. It was great to see the kids running around! And although Camilla didn't know what to do about all the new faces, eventually she decided to join in the fun and run around with her cousins.
Terry and Janelle gave us several house warming gifts, for which we are grateful. Hunter got a bunch of tools (including a ladder) to fix up things around the house, and I got a nice patio set... now we can eat outside!

Our new ladder

Some new tools

Hunter's work space... clean and with new tools!

Patio set.. Fun!

Also, Terry and the boys (Hunter, Uncle Bill Daily and Uncle Tom Coppin) fixed up several things around here! Now my front and side gates work properly. And... remember the duct tape on my screen doors? All gone now! Terry showed Hunter how easy it is to replace the screen, and Tom leveled the screen door frame in the living room.. So now both doors work great. Thank you all for fixing up our house! It would have taken us a while to do it on our own!

New screen for our doors!

The best part was to spend time with family. We had such a great time, and we look forward to more family gatherings this year. Thank you for bringing food and for being so nice to us. We love you!

Ps I don't have any pictures of the get-together... bummer! Terry took a few, so I will post them when I get them!

What we've been up to

The truth is, we haven't up to much! Still, I felt the need to blog so here we go.

In the afternoons, Camilla and I play in the living room. She usually pushes this little cart toy around. Well, I found her pushing her cart WHILE holding her pink cell phone to her ear... I guess she hadn't heard about not talking on her cell while driving. Once she realized what she had done, she put the phone away.. :)

This one was taken at the park... Too cute not to post.

We went to the Oakland Zoo this past Saturday. It was a really hot day, so we got there right after the Zoo had opened. Camilla had fun watching the animals, and she even got to pet a couple of sheep. I've taken several pics of the Zoo before, so this time I got lazy. Here's the couple that I did take.

Usually the tigers just do nothing... At least this time one of them was moving its paw!! Improvement!

Last night Hunter tackled the weeds in our front yward. Here's Camilla helping with the rake.

Hunter clipping one of the small trees in the front of the house. It really needed to be cut!

As you know, the month of April was a fun month because we bought our first house! It was also a weird month when it came to our expenses. So at the beginning of May, after spending half of our savings on the house, I asked Hunter to help me (us) take it easy this month. That meant no major expenses unless really necessary (plumber, things like that). So that's how it's been. We've done a couple of little things around the house. But we've focused more on cleaning rather than fixing. Then a heat wave came over this past weekend. It would have been nice to be able to use our screen doors and let some cool air in at night... Would have. The previous owners must have had a cat or dog, because the bottom of both screen doors (in the kitchen and living room) have scratches. So the first night we suffered... not being able to open our doors. The following morning, we won... I got the duct tape out. We duct taped the scratches, and now we can open our doors at night! It does not look pretty... but it works! Fixing the screens will be our next month's project (add it to the pile).. joy!

If you wonder why I though of duct tape...

Yep, that's Camilla's crib. My ever-active child had succesfully broken both corners in her crib after jumping on it so hard so many times. I didn't want to buy her a new one since a)added expense to the month b)she's most likely going to go to a toddler bed soon enough. So... Duct tape did the trick. And the thing hasn't come apart ever since!
Now that you know how white trash we can be, please always keep in mind that we are nice people :) Just trying to save a little bit of money in these tough economic times.

Park

Camilla and I are on a mission: To find a good park we can always count on. An important thing is how shady it can be... as the summer starts, we are going to want to be able to go to the park, and not fry ourselves!

This week we tried two new parks (one of which, I think, might be the one).

First, Civic Center Park. It's about a 4 min drive from our house to the park, so not bad. Camilla loves all the play structures.. and I love the fact that there are trees to give us shade, and that it's fenced in! (which is why, this might be "the" one)

Second and last, Hillcrest Park. This one is about 5 min away from us. And although not shady, it's a nice park due to the play structures it has. This park hosts a very special playground: one in which children who cannot hear, see or walk can play safely. The design has castles, slides, rock walls, a tree house and more. The aisles are very wide, enough for two wheelchairs to go through at the same time. It's a special place.

Something else cool about this park is that it's huge! Great for Sunday walks. And also great for kite fying!
I can't wait to take advantage of these (and more) neat parks. We love where we are!
Last but not least: Camilla driving our car... silly girl!
